History
Glenn Slanec at the EFR Safety Fair, 2005
NEAT was founded in 2002 by Glenn Slanec, along with Dave Underwood and Don Bennett.  These North Evergreen residents wanted to make sure there was a safe way for kids to get to and from neighborhood schools on foot and on bikes.  Glenn Slanec led the NEAT organization as its President from 2002 through 2006.  Under his leadership, the first pieces of the NEAT Trail were designed, funded and built.  Glenn was instrumental in forming and strengthening our initial partnerships with Evergreen Fire & Rescue, Jefferson County, and Evergreen Park & Rec District. Thank You to Glenn for his inspired vision and tireless spirit of volunteerism.

NEAT continues to operate on 100% volunteer power.  Nine years after forming NEAT, Dave Underwood and Don Bennett continue as active Board Members of NEAT, along with KC Butler, Alexa Cowley, Doug McCormick and Liz Cohen.  Through the years, many other community members have volunteered to help NEAT.  The community has donated over $120,000 to the project.  We thank you for your work and your support, both of which have been instrumental to NEAT's success.
