Three generations of a family walk the site of the future NEAT Village Trail, August 2011
Construction Underway on NEAT Village Trail
Construction is now underway on the NEAT Village Trail, from Broadmoor Drive into the Bergen Village commercial zone.  Work began on schedule on Monday July 25, 2011.  Work will include trail installation, curb & gutter enhancements, stormwater management and drainage improvements along Bergen Parkway.  Completion of trail construction is estimated in late October.   Thank you, neighbors, for your patience during construction.  And thank you, Jefferson County, for funding, designing and building this central piece of the NEAT Trail!

NEAT Meadow Trail
In the Fall of 2009, two more sections of the NEAT Trail were completed -- from Evergreen Middle School to Evergreen Fire & Rescue Department, and across The Gap on Bergen Parkway between the Fire Department and Broadmoor Drive.  This work completes the first section of the NEAT Trail, 0.8 miles in length, called the NEAT Meadow Trail.  This work was funded by a $200,000 grant from Colorado State Trails and lottery-funded Great Outdoors Colorado.  It was designed and built by Jefferson County.

Linking Evergreen Middle School, summer 2009
In all, Jefferson County has provided $450,000 toward constructing the NEAT Trail plus assistance in project development, design and engineering.  In addition, NEAT has received $89,000 in federal funding from the Safe Routes to School federal grant program, which was used toward safe crossings on Bergen Parkway and educational programs at the schools. Evergreen Park & Rec District is also behind the project and has agreed to provide routine maintenance of the trail plus assistance in trail design at Buchanan Park.  Local giving has been tremendous -- over $120,000 has been raised in 2006-11 -- including $12,000 from area HOAs.   NEAT has obtained additional endorsements and support from the Jeffco County Commissioners, Evergreen Fire & Rescue, the Jeffco Sheriff, Bicycle Colorado, DriveSMART Evergreen, and ENABLE.
Neat Trail construction, fall 2009
The NEAT Trail is a 1.8-mile paved path along Bergen Parkway, running from Evergreen Middle School on Hiwan Drive, through the Bergen Park commercial corridor, to Bergen Valley Elementary on Sugarbush Drive.  The NEAT Trail has three sections:  the Meadow Trail (from EMS to Broadmoor Drive); the Village Trail (Broadmoor to Bergen Village on Sugarbush); and the Valley Trail (Sugarbush to Bergen Valley Elem.).  The NEAT Trail will include safe crossings to Evergreen Middle School, Bergen Meadow & Bergen Valley Elems., Buchanan Rec Area, and Bergen Park commercial destinations.
